Rell Signs Into Law Breast Cancer Screening Expansion

Gov. Rell has signed into law a bill that requires health insurers to expand breast cancer screening options. Individual and group health insurance policies are now required by law to provide benefits for comprehensive ultrasound screening of a breast or breasts if such screening is recommended by a physician. The law takes effect Oct. 1.

Rell underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery last year after doctors found early-stage cancer. She has since made a full recovery. (Story from AP)
