Over the past few weeks I've been lucky enough to get around Connecticut enjoying the fall scenery, and the great views on offer.
First I stayed local in West Hartford. I went downtown to check out the Cow Parade. It was last here in 2003, and I thought it was a fun event to see. This year was no different -- well, the cows were different anyway! There's a huge selection, and I think my favorite one was The Mermaid Cow. There are some photos here, I took quite a few. Being that West Hartford is such a busy place it's difficult to get pictures without lots of people around. If you spot one of yourself and don't want it on this website, please let me know.
Then it was off to the charming town of Old Wethersfield to visit the Scarecrows Along Main Street. There was a good display as usual, and when I was walking along the street, it was a beautiful day, and there was a couple getting married in one of the gorgeous old buildings. Two buildings away from the bride and groom was a run-a-way bride scarecrow which was quite funny.
A week later, B and I drove up to Colebrook Dam West Branch Reservoir. The views there are quite stunning. Fall was just beginning to show at that time, and it was pretty. We went down to the "fishing area" and I have to say, if I go there again, I won't be wearing heels! I was a muddy mess after that!
And finally, I've always wanted to go here, Saville Dam and Barkhamsted Reservoir. Wow, it's quite a view! From the first time I ever saw Jack McConnell's photos of the dam I've wanted to check it out for myself. I got the directions from Google, and was kicking myself for not realizing how close to it we were the previous week. Oh well... Tons of bikers were there, they seem to know all the best places to travel to! It looks like a beautiful place to visit any time of the year.Labels: About ThisIsCT.net, Photos
