Connecticut Open House Day June 9



More than 180 museums, galleries, historic properties, theaters, farms, vineyards and nature centers will participate in 2007's Connecticut Open House Day.

In its third year, this event has grown from 120 participants in 2005 to more than 180 this ear.

Visit behind the scenes of a bison farm with a walk through fields and down a dirt road to see the bison and their handling facilities. Tour the dairy milking barn, enjoy some ice cream and bison burgers for purchase after the tour. Tour begins at 11 a.m.

Come to the Stowe Center for a free day of family fun to honor the 196th birthday of Harriet Beecher Stowe. Harriet's Garden party will celebrate Stowe's love of gardens, plants and flowers with activities and performances for everyone. Events include music, dancing, craft activities, Victorian lawn games, tours of the first floor of Stowe's Victorian Gothic house, horse-drawn wagon rides, and more. This year, there will be a special unveiling of the new Harriet Beecher Stowe stamp. Free admission from 12 noon until 5 p.m.
