Falling for Fall Foliage in Connecticut

Elizabeth Park West Hartford

It's leaf peeping season again! It's the most colorful time of the year, and although the color is nowhere near peak right now, the signs are there. The tops of the trees are beginning to turn into brilliant reds, browns and golds. According to the State DEP website, the color is expected to be at it's peak between October 12th - 20th. I can't wait! Here's your ThisIsCT.net guide to making the best of the season.
Stay up to date with where the best color is to be found with Connecticut's Fall Foliage Report. Or for further out, see the Fall Foliage Reports for the North East region from the Foliage Network.
From the Ash, to the Dogwood and the Red Maple, what colors can we expect to see from each tree?

The State DEP website has some great suggestions for scenic views and hikers, and suggests 10 state parks for great autumn color.
Looking For Something Different? Try one of the many state beaches for a different beautiful view. The Greater New Haven Convention & Visitors Bureau suggests checking out an Apple Orchard for a panoramic view, and a tasty treat to take home with you.
I plan to take a trip on the Connecticut River, a ride on the Essex Steam Train, and visit Lyman Orchards for some great views.
If you have any suggestions, please share them with me linzi@thisisct.net.
